Arsalan is a problem solver at heart, and is currently building a hyper-local product and design team at Bazaar, a b2b e-commerce startup. He graduated in 2014 with a BS Media Sciences from SZABIST, with majors in Ad Strategy & Design. Starting first as a freelancer in parallel with his studies, he worked on various communication design projects, ranging from brand identities to presentation, before joining JWT’s digital wing, ‘Fusion’. Not finding advertising his cup of tea, he pivoted and joined VentureDive in Nov 2015 where he started working for Careem. After getting acqui-hired by Careem (an Uber subsidiary) in mid 2016, he spent 4 years working on key product revamps and was on the founding teams of a bunch of internal tools, to cater to the millions of customers across the region. Bootstrapping his way into tech, he pursued an Interaction Design Specialisation offered by the University of San Diego, but still considers himself a student and always curious to learn more! He’s a strong propagator of design for social change, and the role of designers as equal product thinkers. Arsalan’s part of the adjunct faculty for IVSAA, where he teaches courses around interaction design and product management. He spends his free time facilitating product & design teams, academia, non-profits and individuals.
